UC Merced and the Almond Board of California have signed a five-year partnership to advance research in automation, sustainability, and the development of new almond varieties, while also creating hands-on opportunities for students and faculty.
The collaboration will leverage UC Merced’s Experimental Smart Farm to test innovative farming practices and strengthen California’s almond industry through education, technology, and workforce development.
The Almond Board will award three UC Merced students a scholarship to attend the Almond Conference in Sacramento, December 10–12.
This opportunity is open to undergraduate and graduate students. The scholarship will cover travel, hotel, and meal expenses.
Conference registration is free for all attendees. If you are not selected for the scholarship, we encourage you to register and learn more here: almonds.org
Application window: October 1–20
Selection announcements: October 31
There’s also an opportunity for UC Merced faculty across disciplines to work with the Almond Board to shape solutions for the future of agriculture. Submit an interest form below.
