On March 19, UC Merced hosted its annual Womyn’s History Month Celebration Luncheon, recognizing exceptional women who have made a lasting impact on the campus and community. This year’s honorees was AES Faculty Dr. Rebecca Ryals, awarded for her outstanding contributions to sustainability and soil health through her work with compost, climate smart soil health, and reductions of waste and a commitment to inclusion throughout her lab group and courses and community work.
Dr. Ryals’ research and advocacy for composting have significantly advanced efforts in regenerative agriculture, carbon sequestration, and environmental stewardship.
A shoutout to our VISTA friend, Ashlie Martini, for also being an awardee. Congratulations to all the nominees and awardees!
