Congratulations to Jujube and the Pits, a senior capstone team of mechanical engineering students, for showcasing their project at Innovate to Grow last week!
Supported by the F3 Local, F3 Initiative, VISTA UC Merced, and in collaboration with UCANR, the team is tackling a unique challenge: designing a machine to efficiently pit jujube fruit—an underutilized but nutrient-rich crop in California’s Central Valley.
Their innovation focuses on removing seeds while preserving the fruit’s quality, shape, and yield—advancing agtech solutions for specialty crops.
Well done to the team for their creativity and impact in the future of food and farming!
