UC Merced is building the first building at the Experimental Smart Farm, established in 2022. With the addition of a new AgTech barn, part of a $9.2 million award to the Merced AgTech Alliance to strengthen agricultural research, facilities, and workforce development in Merced.

Students will be able to train on issues important to growers: precision agriculture, powering their own operations, and autonomous operations.

The funding will launch the first building at the Experimental Smart Farm providing space for research, student innovation, and advanced equipment.

The investment positions UC Merced as a leader in agricultural technology, supporting local innovation and sustainable growth.

The Merced AgTech Alliance is led by the Community Foundation of Merced County and is a partnership among UC MercedMerced College, and The Reservoir.
